My daughters med examMy pelvic exam is broken up into three partsbecause each part is so different. The firstpart of it is my rectal exam & radiology studiesof my lower colon. The second part is my bladderexam & x-rays of my bladder. The last part is myvaginal exam & ultrasound. I was told to give myselfan enema before I came so I would be clean for the rectal exam. When I first got there, the nurse led me into a room with a special table called a proctology table. She told me to take off all my clothes. So, I did that.There was no gown. I guess women are nude with another woman. The table was shaped like a “Z” with a footrest for me to restmy knees on & I put my chest down on the table. We use theknee-chest position for this procedure because it works best to introduce air into your bottom to dilate it. I climbed onthe table completely nude, for her to look at me. I’m going to tilt the table downwards at 45 degrees. The nurse tilted the table forward with my head down & my butt up in the air.She d****d my back with a blanket so I didn’t get cold & d****d my legs. The area between my lower back & vagina wascompletly exposed.I’m just going to do a visual exam right now. I’ll be usinga light with a special lens to take a close look at your anusand perineum. She started by injecting a bunch of lubricant intomy butt with a syringe for the procedures and slowly inserted hermiddle finger to spread the lubricant around in my bottom & coatthe walls. She took my temperature with a very long thermometer that went up to my belly button. It didn’t hurt, but it scared me because it went in so far. The nurse’s latexed long slender fingers examined the first four inches or so of my rectum and then pushed in a little deeper. She pushed her fingers farther inside me and slowly began to feel around in a circular pattern. She began to separatethem inside me, stretching my anus. Then she put the tips of two fingers into my bottom & stretched them open a little bit under the light. She put a lubricated retractor in my bottom & pulled it towards my spine.Lots of air went in there. I was blown up like a balloon. I had no idea that my butt stretched open that far. The nurse held the retractor open while looking inside me with another light. A few seconds later, my sphincter beganto relax. Then she told me she had to inflate the balloon inside my rectum with water. The second nurse held my knees up to my chest as the first nurse put onexam gloves and took some strange looking instruments out of the drawers. She looked inside for a long time with her lightto see if things were ok. She removed the speculum & had me change positions. She had me lay on my right side with my right arm behind my back in the Sims position. This was very comfortable. This is much better than lyingon my back with my feet in the stirrups. She lubricated the inside of my vagina inside with k-y & put four fingersin my vagina & felt all around my uterus. She got most of her hand in my vagina. Then she retracted my vagina with a speculum called a Sims speculum that only had one blade. She pulled it towards my spine. She held it open & looked inside at my uterus & vaginal walls. Very comfortable. Then she moved me to a different position. She put me on my knees & chest with my chest down. She used the same speculum again & retracted my vagina & lookedinside. This time my vagina was fully dilated with air. She gently retracted myvaginal wall towards my bottom & it opened right up. She put her whole hand in my vagina at that point & felt all around my uterus again. It was one of the bestpelvic exams I’ve ever had. She took my temperature rectally & told me that shewanted to do another rectal exam with air in my bottom a month later. I came back in a month & she had me remove all my clothes for an enema. She put me on her special proctology table & gave me a large volume, warm water enema. I went to the bathroom & expelled it, and got back on the table again. She very gently put her lubricated finger in mybottom & felt around to see if the enema cleaned everything out. It did & she introduced a large catheter into my bottom & & proceededto pump me full of air. I felt full but not real uncomfortable. She put lubricant in my butt & started the sequence over again. She stretched me open with both of her hands, and then used her instruments. This is the best pelvic exam that I’ve ever had
